Quick answer
DEPENDS Two categories are worth booking, most are worth comparing, and one is seasonal

Most things in Da Nang do not need a tour — you can walk into the Marble Mountains for 40,000₫ and take a 30,000₫ bus to Hoi An. Tours earn their money in three situations: when the transport is the hard part, when a gate price is genuinely cheaper pre-purchased, and when a guide adds something. The best-value guided product in the city is the Lady Buddha, Marble Mountains and Am Phu half-day at about $22, rated 4.7 from 6,420 reviews. The most expensive is a Hai Van jeep at $60–90. The one with a hard season is the Cham Islands, March to September only.

How to read this page

Judge every tour against the gate price, not against other tours

Half the things sold as tours here have a published gate price you could pay yourself. The only honest way to compare is to subtract it.

Three examples. Ba Na Hills charges 950,000₫ (~$37) at the gate, so a $60 day tour is selling you about $23 of transport, guiding and lunch — decide whether that is worth it, not whether $60 sounds like a lot. My Son charges 150,000₫ (~$6) including the buggy and the Apsara dance, so a $45 sunrise tour is mostly a 69km private transfer at 05:00, which is a genuinely awkward thing to arrange yourself. The Marble Mountains charge 40,000₫ and are 11km from the beach on a road every Grab driver knows — which is why a Marble-Mountains-only tour is the one category on this page you should almost always skip.

The second rule: a reseller booking is not automatically cheaper than the gate, it is just easier. Ba Na pre-purchase has run from about 750,000₫, roughly 20% under the gate, and that is real. Nothing else on this list has a discount worth chasing. Book for convenience, timing and cancellation terms.

If you book nothing else here, book these. One is the cheapest guided day in the city, the other is the only ticket with a real pre-purchase saving.

Our pick
GetYourGuide
Lady Buddha, Marble Mountains and Am Phu half-day
~$22 per person, typical
4.7 from 6,420 reviews. The three gates total 75,000₫, so roughly $19 of this is transport and a guide for a half-day — the best ratio on the page.

Runs indoors, which matters from September to December. Market walk, five dishes and lunch — the best thing to have booked on a day the forecast falls apart.

The seasonal one

Cham Islands: March to September, and not the cheap boats

The Cham Islands run a March to August/September season only. From October to February the sea state cancels 40–60% of departures against roughly 5% in season, so treat the winter months as closed rather than risky. Book the small-group speedboat operators: the cheap mass-market snorkel day trips have been nicknamed “Scam Island” in more than one Reddit thread for overcrowded boats and bait-and-switch inclusions.

Practically: speedboat return runs 500,000–600,000₫, snorkel day tours $32–63, beginner dives from about $80, and there is a 70,000₫ conservation fee on top. If you are here between October and February, treat the whole category as shut and put the money into an indoor day instead. Full logistics on the Cham Islands page.

How far ahead each category actually sells out

Same day
Cruises, massage, cooking classes, Marble MountainsAll of these have spare capacity almost every day of the year. A Han River cruise can be bought at the DHC Marina an hour before it sails, and spas take walk-ins at 250,000–450,000₫ an hour.
24–48 hours
Ba Na tickets, half-day tours, airport transfersThe right window for anything weather-dependent. Two days is long enough to get a decent price and short enough that the mountain forecast means something.
3–7 days

Questions people actually search

Da Nang tours FAQ

Do you need to book tours in Da Nang in advance?

Rarely. Outside Tet, the DIFF fireworks Saturdays from late May to mid-July, and the June–August domestic peak, almost everything here has same-day or next-day availability. The exceptions are small-fleet products: Hai Van jeeps, sunrise My Son departures and in-season Cham Islands speedboats.

What is the cheapest good tour in Da Nang?

The Lady Buddha, Marble Mountains and Am Phu half-day at about $22, rated 4.7 from 6,420 reviews. It bundles three sites whose gates total 75,000₫ with transport between them, which is the part that is annoying to arrange. A Han River cruise is cheaper still at $3–10 but it is an hour, not a day.

Is it cheaper to book Ba Na Hills online or at the gate?

Online. The gate charges 950,000₫ (about $37) and pre-purchased tickets have run from around 750,000₫, roughly 20% less, with a QR code that skips the ticket window. That matters because being on the 08:00 cable car is the difference between an empty Golden Bridge and a queue.

Are Cham Islands tours running all year?

No. The season is March to September. From October to February the sea state cancels 40–60% of departures against about 5% in season, so treat the winter as closed rather than risky. Speedboat return is 500,000–600,000₫ and there is a 70,000₫ conservation fee.

Do I need a tour to get to Hoi An?

No. The yellow Bus No. 1 runs every 20–30 minutes from 05:30 to 17:50 for about 30,000₫, a Grab is 250,000–350,000₫ and a tourist shuttle is 120,000–250,000₫. A tour makes sense only if you want the basket boats and a guide bundled in, which is the $20–30 evening product.

How much is a Hai Van Pass tour?

A US Army jeep is $60–90, an easy-rider motorbike is $55–65, a private car is $50–80 and the heritage train through the pass starts around $24 — with the ordinary train doing the same track for about $10. Views collapse from October to January, which is worth knowing before you pay $90.

Which tour operator should I use in Da Nang?

Compare the same product across two platforms before booking — GetYourGuide has 500+ Da Nang listings rated 4.7 overall, and Klook holds the highest-volume single product in the market, the Ba Na ticket with over a million bookings. Hotel desks are typically the most expensive route.

Is a guide worth it for the Marble Mountains?

Only inside Am Phu cave, where the hell-and-heaven iconography is genuinely hard to read alone. The rest is a well-signed 40,000₫ walk you can do at your own pace. If you are already booking the half-day combo the guide comes free with the transport.

Where to stay
Every tour
starts with
a pickup point.

Almost every tour on this page quotes hotel pickup, and the pickup zones are narrower than the listings suggest — the beach strip between Pham Van Dong and Nguyen Van Thoai, An Thuong, and the riverside hotels in Hai Chau. Book outside those and you will be told to meet at a hotel that is not yours. Beachfront four-stars run $40–60 and the five-star average is about $84, one of Asia's cheapest.
