Near the head, you will get wet. Not misted — wet. Locals treat the soaking as luck and deliberately stand for it; if you are carrying a camera without a rain cover, do not. The dry seats are further down the deck or across on the east bank.
Is it worth staying up for? For five free minutes on a night you are in the city anyway, yes. Do not restructure a three-day trip around it, and do not pay a premium for a “fire show view” hotel room for one Saturday.

Saturday night at the Dragon Bridge, hour by hour
The show is five minutes. The evening around it is three hours, and most of the mistakes people make are timing ones.
Filling. Riverside cafés are full and parking near the bridge is already awkward.
The swing bridge, the Love Bridge and the one that is not here
The Han River Bridge, 400m north, is Vietnam's only swing bridge: the central span rotates 90 degrees to let boats through and stays open for around an hour. Timing is roughly 01:00 on weeknights and about 23:00 on Saturday and Sunday, which makes the weekend rotation a reasonable follow-on from the fire show if you are still out. It is a slow mechanical spectacle rather than a light show — worth it if you are curious, not worth setting an alarm for.
The Love Bridge (Cầu Tình Yêu) is the short pedestrian pier just downstream on the east bank, hung with red heart lanterns, with a dragon carp statue at the end and love locks along the rail. It is free, takes ten minutes, and sits exactly where you want to be standing at 21:00 anyway. Two more, for completeness: Tran Thi Ly is the sail-shaped cable-stay bridge upstream, photogenic and show-free, and Thuan Phuoc is the big suspension bridge at the river mouth with the best skyline view in the city. Neither does anything on a schedule.

Both apps quote the fare before you get in: GrabBike runs 20,000–35,000₫ for a 5km hop, GrabCar 60,000–90,000₫. Xanh SM is the electric VinFast fleet, priced at or below Grab and consistently better reviewed. Vinasun and Mai Linh are the two metered brands worth flagging on the street if you have no data.

The single thing money buys you here is a position mid-river that you cannot walk to — cruise boats hold station off the bridge for the 21:00 show.
