Non Nuoc, Khue My and Ngu Hanh Son: The Resort Strip, Judged (2026)
Ngũ Hành Sơn is the southern end of Da Nang, and it has two faces. Inland it is quiet, residential and family-oriented, with the best value for space in the city: one-beds at $280–450 and family apartments at $600–900 a month, near the international schools, which is why expat families cluster here. Seaward it is the Non Nuoc resort strip at km 12 — five kilometres of Furama, Hyatt Regency, Melia, Pullman, Premier Village and Sheraton Grand on the widest, cleanest, quietest sand on the coast, at $120–380 a night. Be clear about what that second thing is: a resort bubble with no walkable town at all, and Hoi An still 20–30 minutes further south.
One district, three different places to live
The old Ngu Hanh Son district covers the marble karsts, the resort coast and the quietest residential grid in Da Nang.
Hoa Hải is the middle: the ground around the Marble Mountains at km 11 and the Non Nuoc stone-carving village at their feet, where the marble workshops have been cutting Buddhas and lions for centuries. Entry to the mountains is 40,000₫, the lift 15,000₫ one way, the Am Phủ hell cave 20,000₫ extra, and they open 07:00–17:30. It is the best-value attraction in the city and it is a kilometre from the resort gates.
Khuê Mỹ is the northern end, roughly km 9–11, and it is the quiet band between the river and the ocean. TIA Wellness and Melia sit here, and so do a lot of the long-stay apartments that expat families take because the international schools are close. It is the compromise position: cheaper and calmer than An Thuong 2–4km north, still close enough to ride there in ten minutes.
Non Nước proper is the seaward face — Trường Sa, the southern name of the coast road, running five kilometres from about km 12 down towards Tan Tra at km 16 and the Hoi An corridor beyond. The beach here is wide, clean, palm-backed and consistently described as the quietest stretch on this coast, which is accurate and is the point.
Distances: An Thuong 5km north, the My Khe strip 7.5km north, Hai Chau and the airport about 10km northwest, and Hoi An 18km south — 20 to 30 minutes by car. Every resort here runs a shuttle, and you will use it.
The Non Nuoc strip and the streets behind it
The resort rates below are the published band for the strip; the InterContinental up on the Son Tra headland sits in a category of its own at $400–700 and up and is not part of this stretch. The monthly figures are what makes Ngu Hanh Son interesting to anyone who is not on holiday.

October and November rates on the resort strip can halve. That is also when the sea is red-flagged and the region gets 650mm and 430mm of rain, so a discounted beachfront resort in those months is a discounted swimming pool with a view of a closed beach.
It is a resort bubble, and you should book it knowing that
There is no town here. Not a quiet town — no town.
Say it plainly: the Non Nuoc strip is a resort bubble with no walkable town at all. Outside the compound gates you get Truong Sa — a wide coast road with resort walls on one side and low-rise development on the other — and that is it. No café grid, no bar street, no market you would browse, nothing you would leave the gate for on foot at 21:00. The nearest neighbourhood with street life is An Thuong, 5km north, which is a 10-minute bike ride or a 60,000–90,000₫ Grab each way.
That is a perfectly good holiday if it is the holiday you booked. Families with small children, people who want a pool and a kids club and a spa, golfers on the Vietnam Golf Coast circuit — all of them are better served here than anywhere else in the city. What does not work is booking Non Nuoc as a base for exploring Da Nang. You will spend a lot on transport and see less than someone paying half as much 7km north.
Hoi An is 20–30 minutes further south, which sounds like a selling point and mostly is not. It is close enough that people plan on going often and far enough that they go twice. If Hoi An is the reason for the trip, stay in Hoi An and day-trip Da Nang instead — that inversion is the consensus answer on this coast.
And the sea, which is the actual product here:
Swim between the flags, and take that literally. The sea off My Khe is calm and swimmable from roughly March to August; from September the swell builds and red flags go up, and the water is effectively closed to casual swimmers October to December. The real danger is not sharks or jellyfish — it is rip currents, which drown people here most years. Lifeguards staff the flagged sectors roughly 05:00–19:00. Look for a darker, calmer-looking channel with debris moving out to sea: that is the rip, and it is the bit that looks safest.
When the resort strip is worth its rate
A beach resort is a weather bet, and on this coast the spread between the best and worst month is enormous. Rain figures are monthly averages in millimetres; sea temperatures are the surface average.
Humidity runs 75–90% year-round, so even the dry months are sticky. If you are booking a resort specifically to swim in the sea rather than a pool, the window is March to August and everything else is a compromise. See the best-time guide.

Compare on two things the photographs will not tell you: whether the shuttle into the city is free and how often it runs, and whether the resort has a kids club if that is why you are here. Everything on this stretch has a pool and a beach; not everything has a way out.

Is Non Nuoc a good place to stay in Da Nang?
Only if you plan to stay inside the resort. It has the widest, cleanest and quietest sand on the coast and the strongest family hotels in the city, but there is no walkable town outside the gates and the nearest street life is 5km north in An Thuong. As a base for exploring Da Nang it is the worst choice on the map.
How much are Non Nuoc resorts per night?

Da Nang's overall five-star average is about $84, so this stretch sits well above the city norm.
How far is Non Nuoc from Hoi An?
About 18km, or 20–30 minutes by car — the resort strip is the southern end of the Hoi An corridor. Every resort runs a shuttle. Bus No. 1 does the same run for around 30,000₫, every 20–30 minutes between 05:30 and 17:50, but you have to get to the road first.
Is Non Nuoc beach better than My Khe?

Where do expat families live in Da Nang?
Ngu Hanh Son and Khue My, mostly, because the international schools are here and family apartments run $600–900 a month with real space in them. The trade-off is the same one everyone here makes: cheaper and quieter, but you need a scooter and nothing is walkable.
Is Khue My a good area?
It is the best compromise on this half of the coast — the quiet band between the river and the ocean at km 9–11, with TIA Wellness and Melia on the seaward side and long-stay apartments behind. Ten minutes by bike to An Thuong, one-beds at $280–450 a month, and none of the resort-bubble isolation of Non Nuoc proper.
Can you walk from Non Nuoc to the Marble Mountains?
Roughly a kilometre from the northern resorts, so yes, though the coast road is not a pleasant walk in the middle of the day. Entry is 40,000₫, the lift 15,000₫ one way and the Am Phu hell cave 20,000₫ extra, open 07:00–17:30. Allow two to three hours and go before 10:00 for the light beams in Huyen Khong cave.
Should I stay at a resort or in the city in Da Nang?
If the trip is the resort, book the resort. If the trip is Da Nang, do not — a $40–60 beachfront four-star on the My Khe strip puts you inside the city with the beach across the road. The mistake people make on this stretch is paying resort rates and then leaving the compound every day.
